Pi.FYI, or Perfectly Imperfect, is everything and anything. Tyler Bainbridge launched PI.FYI in 2020 alongside his best friend Alex Cushing as a site of sincerity that quickly became what he calls “a reflection of himself”. Something that began as a project blossomed over the years, becoming a getaway for many all over the world offering them human connection in a time of disconnection.
If you can’t shut up about something, just thought of a groundbreaking piece, need to share a picture of a plate at your nona’s place you love, talk about how someone you saw on the bus looked like someone you once knew which sent you spiraling (include the spiral in your post), or a random little thing that you want to keep a record of, then PI.FYI’s the place for you.
Wait, what?
When I say you can write anything, I mean anything and everything. Doesn’t matter if you think it’s silly, I guarantee you someone’s going to find what you say so interesting they might even re-rec it (PI.FYI equivalent of retweeting something). Thaaaaaat brings me to…
Rec, Ask, Attend events
A rec (short for recommendation) can be an actual rec or something that just came to mind and you just feel the need to share – or you can simply ask! Ask about advice, bars, restaurants, places to visit, art, anything. The sky’s your limit! Another function I absolutely adore about this app is the ability to look for and attend events near you. Using location services, you can find events going on around you and declare that you’re attending them on the Holy App of PI.FYI –and also find others who are going, too.
I was recommended this app by my best friend, and have not shut up about it ever since. PI.FYI is a place that doesn’t have any requirements, aside from you being yourself. And it’s a constant reminder that we’re all much more similar than we think we are, and there’s experiences that are universal, good or bad. To me posting on this app and interacting with others led me to feeling less burdened by day-to-day hiccups and instead appreciating my life and everything in it a lot more.
This was the first I had ever heard of PI.FYI, and to be honest, I have absolutely fallen in loveee! This website truly gives that old-internet vibe that, in my opinion, a lot of us long for nowadays. There's no overstimulating content like those never-ending reels found on Instagram or TikTok, just a bunch of people simply showing their interests in a way that reflects their personality best! 🦭
